May 30th is the 4th National Science and Technology Worker’s Day in China. The theme of this year’s National Science and Technology Worker’s Day is “Science and Technology for the People, I am One of the Strivers”. On the morning of the same day, to encourage all scientific and technological workers in the country to work hard and innovate actively, the Second National Innovation Award recognition conference was held in Beijing by the China Association for Science and Technology. Wan Gang, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and President of the China Association for Science and Technology, attended the meeting and made a speech. Huai Jinpeng, secretary of the party group, executive vice-chairman and first secretary of the secretariat of China Association for Science and Technology, presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, the national anthem was played and then the mourning was held to mourn the lost compatriots in the COVID-19 epidemic. At the meeting, the recognition decision of the Second National Innovation Award was read out, and awards were given to all the winners. Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), won the award.

Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, has long been committed to China’s biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, scientific popularization in the field of ecological civilization construction, international exchanges, policy suggestions, and has innovatively proposed and established the construction system of “CBCGDF’s Community Conservation Area” (CCA) in 2016. After that, in more than four years, CBCGDF fully combined the enthusiasm of local volunteers for ecological protection, and successively established more than 150 Community Conservation Areas of various types in more than 30 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions, making special contributions to the protection of ecological environment and biodiversity in China.

Besides, in the research and promotion of ecological civilization thought, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng practiced himself and went to Tianjin, Jiangxi, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and other provinces, cities and autonomous regions for many times in recent years to propagandize ecological civilization thought to the local leadership. At the same time, he also visited more than 10 universities in China and other countries, and actively communicated with many young students on the practice of ecological civilization. Under the leadership of Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, CBCGDF has made outstanding achievements in biodiversity conservation, ecological legislation, ecological civilization planning, and other fields in China.

The transformation from industrial civilization to ecological civilization is not an overnight thing. It requires all the scientific and technological workers of the country to take the lead in innovation and bravery in various fields. Under the leadership of Secretary-General Zhou Jinfeng, CBCGDF will continue to promote the construction and practice of China’s ecological civilization in the future in the mission of biodiversity conservation and green development.
