2019/2/10 17:00:00 本站

Dear CBCGDF Colleagues,

Kindly allow us to submit our 2018 annual work report to you. The Oppose Electro Fishing Union (FDY Center) has made great progress with your help and with support from the leaders of the Agriculture Ministry and Fisheries Administration Bureau at all levels. In 2018, the Center assisted fishing sectors to crack down about 1,206 cases of illegal electrofishing in more than 10 provinces of China. And more than 730 joint law enforcement operations have been carried out with fisheries administration departments around the country. The number of our FDY volunteers has reached more than 25,100 and the patrol mileage amounted more than 240,000 kilometers throughout the year of 2018.

In the process of cracking down on illegal electrofishing activities, the Anti- electrofishing Collaboration Center kept on promoting awareness of “protecting fish, water resources, and sustainable utilization and development of fishery resources” to the public via different approach include We-media. We have also went into schools for knowledge education through the platform of CBCGDF, and established the demonstration school of "Little Guards of the Good Fellows of the Green Woods" in Zigong, southwest China’s Sichuan Province. Our awareness promotion efforts have affected 2.3 million people along the Yangtze River Basin.

The Center has established 50 anti-electrofishing volunteer workstations in the whole country since 2018. Up to now total number of volunteers in the network has reached 14,801. There were only 26 volunteer workstations and more than 5,300 volunteers in early 2018. The network is expanding quickly.

In the work of anti-electrofishing, we have received the care and guidance from leaders of the China’s Ministry of Agriculture, from which we learned how to better cooperate with the fishery authorities to fight illegal fishing. Especially in the investigation and forensic work of major cases, Guo Yunfeng, Director of Fisheries Administration Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, has been given nice guidance and help us many times. On behalf of the CBCGDF’s Anti-Electrofishing Collaboration Center, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the officials who helped us.

In the future, we will continue our efforts in safeguarding our country’s freshwater ecosystems, do our best to actively assist government departments at all levels in their work, and contribute our time and energy to the great Era of Ecological Civilization. 2019 is the critical year for the Ministry of Agriculture to carry out special law enforcement activities against electric fishing. In order to better cooperate with the special law enforcement activities against electrofishing, we will continue to work hard, to overcome difficulties, take positive actions and study professional knowledge. We will maintain good communication, respect and trust with fishery authorities at all levels and become good assistants.

As the Spring Festival approaches, I wish all of our CBCGDF leaders and colleagues have a happy Spring Festival and good health on behalf of all volunteers of the Anti-electric Fishing Collaboration Center.
