Ecological civilization education must start from the youth. On December 25th, volunteers from the Baiyangdian Wetland Natural Science Popularization Green Children Base of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and Baiyangdian wetland ecological wildlife conservation volunteers of CBCGDF went to an elementary school. 50 kids looked forward to the start of this sharing class with excitement.
Many so-called "garbage" are actually misplaced resources. This volunteer team started the preparations for the milk carton recycling project in September this year, and tried to enter the elementary school for the first time in November. This time the team walked into another elementary school with the theme of "We Collect Milk Boxes" and Love the Earth.
As early as a week ago, under the arrangement of the teacher, the students began to collect all kinds of milk cartons in daily life. There were all kinds of milk cartons on the table. "Does this little milk carton still have a big purpose?" With this question, everyone walked into the "story" of the milk carton.
The CBCGDF volunteer first let the students learn about the brand classification of milk carton packaging, introduced companies and organizations that have done a good job in resource recycling and reuse, and found relevant brand logos on the packaging that everyone brought. These inconspicuous symbols are like the surname family of milk cartons, reflecting the origin of these packaging boxes.
Seventy-seven percent of the world’s carbon is stored in forest vegetation. Tropical rainforests in forests support 50% of the world’s animals and plants. However, from 1990 to 2015, the global forest area lost 129 million hectares. The rate of 8 million hectares is declining. At this rate, the tropical rain forest and 50% of the living things it supports will disappear in the next 100 years. Groups of shocking data give everyone a deep understanding of the urgency of environmental protection and resource reuse.
The vivid cartoons and image explanations let the students see the little-known journeys of milk cartons after they were discarded and told the story of their rebirth. Through data calculation, everyone clearly understands how to collect the milk cartons around them will produce many useful things.
Hurry up! Since it is such a valuable thing, we must hurry up and practice it. Everyone flexes their hands to highlight the prepared water basin and scissors. Under the guidance of the teacher, try to disassemble the milk carton. It is necessary to clean it and save water to avoid the second time wasted.
After the sharing class, everyone enthusiastically answered questions and shared the experience of the class. The students said that starting from today, they will not only collect their used milk cartons, but also tell their parents and relatives and friends to join the ranks of milk cartons recycling. What we picked up was not just milk cartons, but the big trees in the sky, the lush forests! Let’s protect our planet together!
