Without Taking a Sip of Water, CBCGDF Volunteers Urgently Sent 20,000 Pairs of Medical Gloves to Anlu, Hubei Overnight | CBCGDF Working Group on Fighting the 2019-nCoV Epidemic

On February 4, after the number of confirmed cases reached 3887, there was a turning point. On February 5, the number of newly confirmed cases dropped to 3694. This is the first peak after 8 days of full epidemic prevention on January 28.

There are many contributions from medical and health care workers, people in the epidemic area, front-line volunteers and so on!

Due to the shortage of medical materials in the past week, the anti-epidemic working group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has been raising funds from many sides. On February 5, the volunteers of CBCGDF heard that a volunteer in Anlu was looking for vehicles to send a batch of medical gloves to Anlu. After confirming the information, he rushed from Yingcheng to the express delivery station in Wuhan city to pick up the goods at 2:00 p.m. that day.

Anlu is a county-level city subordinate to Xiaogan City, Hubei Province. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the number of pneumonia cases caused by the novel coronavirus in the city has increased linearly, reaching 322 cases by February 5th. Xiaogan City is adjacent to Wuhan City, and its number of confirmed cases has been ranked among the top three in Hubei Province for nearly a week. Like other county-level cities in Hubei Province, the designated epidemic prevention hospitals in Anlu are also facing a shortage of medical materials.

Five days ago, Wan Hongbin, a volunteer from Anlu, together with Zhu, a doctor from the local hospital, bought a batch of medical gloves at the lowest price with sincerity, totaling 20,000 pairs. Unexpectedly, during the national epidemic prevention period, traffic was interrupted all over the country, so the manufacturers could not directly deliver materials to Anlu, but they had to first transport materials to Wuhan and then to Anlu. On February 4, Wan Hongbin learned that the medical materials had arrived in Wuhan after a four-day long wait.

How can we transport them to Anlu? Because Wan Hongbin helped transport materials from Wuhan and his kid had a fever, their family had been isolated at home since the beginning. On February 4, Wan Hongbin stayed at home one day, contacted vehicles and personnel. However, he failed. He decided to temporarily put the medical materials in the express company for storage. "He can't sleep well all night, just think about the 20,000 pairs of gloves and how to get them back as soon as possible." Wan Hongbin is in a hurry, hoping to distribute the materials that can save lives to the medical workers of the designated epidemic prevention hospitals in Anlu.

Wan Hongbin with the help of the Internet to release relevant information. After a netizen contacted Mr. Tian, a volunteer at CBCGDF. On the afternoon of the 5th, after Mr. Tian finished loading the goods at Wuhan, he immediately went to Anlu. Originally, more than 120 kilometers from Anlu to Wuhan could be delivered in less than 3 hours under normal circumstances. However, due to the relative isolation measures taken by counties, cities and even villages during the epidemic prevention period, roads in some places were frequently blocked. "Some roads have been cut directly." although Mr. Tian is worried, he asked for directions while driving the car. As a result, it took nearly five hours to finally deliver the goods to Anlu at about 7:30 p.m. on the 5th.

As the whole family is in the period of isolation at home, Wan Hongbin can't go downstairs to unload and receive the medical materials when they arrived. He took a video through the window of his home and sent a message to the volunteers of CBCGDF. "An unknown friend, at the risk of infection, drove from Wuhan for more than five hours without drinking a little water or eating some foods. He delivered the goods to us. I couldn't even say thank you face to face..." "at this time, Wan Hongbin said on WeChat that he felt guilty, so he could only silently bless the "Heroes" in his mind!

According to the front-line volunteers of the CBDGDF, the materials were temporarily stored in Anlu warehouse and then sent to designated anti-epidemic hospitals in batches to support the front-line medical workers.
