VI. Science Education

 

1. Dr. Sara Platto, Secretary-General of CBCGDF BASE was invited to participate in the 2020 National Science and Technology Week "Foreign Experts Science Lectures" activity co-organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Propaganda Department of Central Committee, Health Commission, and the China Association for Science and Technology. And on August 26, she gave a science lecture on "What is the sound world of dolphins" for children at the Beijing Planetarium.

2. "2020 Biodiversity and Human Health" science communication series activities into campus: on September 25th, to welcome World Rabies Day, the CBCGDF International Affairs Department brought an event "Everything About Rabies" to the kids at Beijing Zhongke Qiyuan School to popularize the knowledge of rabies prevention and help children to understand the dog's body language correctly. Dr. Sara Platto, Secretary-General of the CBCGDF BASE brought a lively and interesting science lecture to the kids remotely.

 

3. On September 28th, World Rabies Day, Dr. Sara Platto, Secretary-General of the CBCGDF BASE, launched the rabies vaccination and education campaign “Connects China· Cares animals”. In addition to providing free rabies vaccines in Wuhan, she also connected practitioners of rabies prevention and animal protection institutions in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, and Haikou to share their efforts in eliminating rabies.

 

4. "2020 Biodiversity and Human Health" science communication series activities into campus: On November 13th, the CBCGDF BASE brought a lecture "Bat: Flying mammal" to students in Beijing Zhongke Qiyuan School. Matteo, a 12-year-old boy from Italy, connected remotely and shared interesting scientific knowledge about bats with those kids.

5. "2020 Biodiversity and Human Health" science communication series activities into campus: On December 1st, the CBCGDF BASE visited Changling Primary School in Xinzhou District, Wuhan, and Dr. Sara Platto, Secretary-General of CBCGDF BASE brought a lecture "Family Safety Around Doggy" to students; Italian teenager Ricci also shared a short story "Ricci in the world of dogs", telling children how to understand dogs’ body language and to prevent rabies.
