I. International conferences and events
On January 18th, the “2020 ALL-Dutch students and Scholars Spring Festival Gala and New Year Forum” was successfully held at the Utrecht Tivoli Theater, the event was hosted by the Chinese Association of Students and Scholars in the Netherlands and organized by the Utrecht Branch. Gu Yunfei, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) representative in the Netherlands attended the event.
On February 17th, the side event of “People’s Participation Approach: A Bottom-Up Approach Towards Migratory Species Conservation” co-organized by Operation Earth and Terre Policy Center was successfully held during the 13th conference of the Parties of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS COP13). The event shares experiences and practices of Chinese non-governmental organizations in protecting migratory wild species: including more than 140 Chinese community-based protected areas (CCAfa), the online and offline actions participated by volunteers such as anti-poaching, wildlife rescue, and wildlife release, and the jobs for launched a series of education program regarding migratory species and awaken public's awareness.
On February 18th, the side event of "Reducing Impacts of Poison on Migratory Birds from Agriculture Chemicals and Poison Baits" co-organized by CBCGDF and International Crane Foundation (ICF) was successfully held during the 13th Conference of the Parties to the Convention for the Protection of Migratory Wildlife Species (CMS COP13), aiming to promote awareness of migratory birds that are affected by poison and discuss feasible and effective plans.
From February 24th to 28th, the SUNx Climate Friendly Travel Think Tank was held in Kavala, Malta. Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), was invited by Geoffrey Lipman who is the co-founder of SUNx, and attended the conference to discuss climate-friendly travel issues with global academics and government leaders.
On March 3rd, Dr. Alice Hughes, Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF, prepared to propose relevant proposals to the Two Sessions on "protecting humans and wild animals and plants".
On the evening of April 30th, the fourth event "The Forgotten Amphibians and Reptiles" of the online think tank series of seminars "The future, let the pandemic no longer outbreak" co-organized by CBCGDF and Action Asia iCARE Life Care Education Research Center, One Health of Sun Yat-sen University and Animal Protection Research Center of Shandong University was successfully held.
On May 11th, at the invitation of India, Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, sent a representative to attend the seminar “The Importance of Multilateralism Under the Global Pandemic”.
On May 21st, CBCGDF participated in the "Enhancing Small Farmers” Land Rights-Beyond COVID-19: Global Open Innovation Challenge" webinar which was hosted by CET.
On June 12th, the 3rd International Conference on Green Building and Environmental Management (GBEM 2020), co-organized by the CBCGDF and hosted by the AEIC Academic Exchange Center (GBEM 2020), was held as an online conference due to the epidemic. Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, member of the Executive Committee of the Club of Rome, Vice Chairman of the World Green Design Organization, Professor Yang Hongxing from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, who studies the application of renewable energy and building energy efficiency, Prof. Hamidi Abdul Aziz from the institution of Civil Engineering, the University of Science in Malaysia Professor, Prof. Mohan Kolhe from the institution of Engineering and Science, the University of Agde in Norway, and Professor Ismael Guerrero Arias, President of Loyola University in Spain and Canadian Solar Energy Group were the keynote speakers and delivered keynote speeches respectively.
On June 20th, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, was invited to attend the Ocean Geographic Forum-Wildlife and Wet Markets and delivered a keynote speech.
On July 1st, the International Office of CBCGDF participated in a blockbuster virtual webinar which is one of the series of virtual meetings of 2020 London Climate Action Week. The theme was "Bringing active and natural recovery to People, Economy and Climate", discussing investment in nature-based work and initiatives to stimulate the economy in the post-COVID-19 period.
On July 3rd, the CBCGDF International Affairs Department representative participated virtually: From Recovery to COP26: The Contribution of Sustainable Cooling.
From July 6th to 7th, the CBCGDF International Affairs Department participated in the first "International Conference on Circular Economics (IS4CE2020)".
On July 9th, as a member of the Executive Committee of the Club of Rome, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of CBCGDF attended the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Club of Rome virtually.
On July 16th, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng participated in Resolution No.73/333 of the World Environmental Convention and an online discussion meeting which was led by a social organization.
On July 20th, the International Affairs Department representatives were invited to participate in the “2020 Asian Biodiversity Information Network Summit” of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF).
On July 24th, the International Standardization Organization (ISO) hosted an online conference on sustainable financial standardization. The organizer of the meeting was the Technical Committee on Sustainable Finance of International Standardization Organization (ISO/TC 322). The CBCGDF International Affairs Department representative was invited to participate in it.
On August 10th, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of the CBCGDF, a National First-level Society, was invited to participate in the Forum on Development and Governance of Science and Technology Societies of the Annual Meeting of China Association of Science and Technology.
On August 14th, the CBCGDF International Affairs Department representative was invited to attend the sixth event of the IUCN WCEL webinar series - "Are multilateral environmental agreements effective for marine protection in the Asia-Pacific region?”
On September 1st, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, an international seminar was held in Beijing. Linda Wang, Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF was invited to participate in the event.
On September 15th, the All-China Youth Federation and the UK-Sino Association co-organized a webinar on "Environment and Sustainable Development". Linda Wang, Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF was invited to participate in the event as a member of the Chinese delegation.
On September 15th, the CBCGDF International Affairs Department was invited to participate in the United Nations "Decade on Ecosystem Restoration " seminar.
On September 22nd, the International Forum on Tackling the Climate and Environmental Crisis hosted by the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization was held in Beijing. As a member of the cooperative organization, the CBCGDF was invited to attend this meeting.
From September 22nd to 25th, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, was invited to attend the "Planetary Health" session and delivered a keynote speech on "Shaping the present and future of human civilization and the natural system of the earth “to share China’s practices in the construction of ecological civilization and the efforts of Chinese social organizations in nature protection and promotion of sustainable development.
On September 30th, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF was invited to participate in a high-level online event that would start at 8:00 a.m. New York time (8:00 p.m. Beijing time) on September 30th. This was also a side event of the United Nations Biodiversity Summit.
On October 14th, the CBCGDF International Affairs Department was invited to participate in the IUCN Virtual Dialogue “Impacts of COVID-19 and Climate Change on Indigenous Peoples” webinar.
From October 13th to 15th, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF attended the online World Food Security Committee's high-level Special Event on strengthening global governance of food security and nutrition.
From October 15th to 16th in 2020, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, received his invitation to the first "Regeneration 2030 Summit" which was held in Parma, Italy.
On October 16th, the second event of the "Ecological Civilization" webinar series co-organized by CBCGDF and the Earth Charter International was successfully held. Dr. Alice Hughes, Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF participated in the event and delivered a speech.
On October 20th, the Geneva Environment Network organized a seminar on "Chemicals and Waste | From Science to Policy, Issues of Global Concern, Challenges and Opportunities" by using both offline and online methods. This was a briefing session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA). On the eve of the meeting, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF received a letter from the Civil Society Department of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and was invited to attend this seminar virtually.
On October 20th, CBCGDF representatives were invited by the Israel Chamber of Commerce in China (IsCham) to participate in the webinar “Come and Meet Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael Jewish National Fund (KKL)”.
On October 22nd, the CBCGDF International Affairs Department representatives were invited to attend the "United Nations-China Gender Fund (CGF) the Ninth Batch Press Conference and Award Ceremony” and participated in the discussion on ways to achieve gender equality.
