Recently, Mr. Bert Lenten, former Deputy Executive Secretary of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) visited China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), exchanged with the Secretary-General of CBCGDF Dr. Zhou Jinfeng on topics including the conservation of wild migratory species, the post-2020 biodiversity agenda, as well as green meeting (index), etc.

In the exchange, Mr. Bert Lenten expressed his admiration for China's leader who attaches great importance to the ecological environment. He believes that this is the world's luck. Dr. Zhou introduced him to the idea of ecological civilization and the reasons for emphasizing the importance of ecological civilization. He mentioned that this is a concept that dominates the overall situation. It is a more macro concept than the international mainstream discourse concept such as “climate change” and “sustainable development”. The world is in a state of change that has never happened in a hundred years. All kinds of contradictions are superimposed. Under the circumstances of facing difficulties in a wide range, the ecological civilization advocated by China is a very active and effective force. It plays an important role in global environmental governance.

Mr. Bert Lenten is an experienced global expert in environmental governance with a wealth of experience in nature conservation and a reputation in the international protection community. After the introduction of CBCGDF, he came to China and attended the 7th Kubuqi International Desert Forum (KIDF) in Inner Mongolia from 26-28 July 2019.
