At “The Mainstreaming of Agricultural Biodiversity and UN FAO ITPGRFA” Seminar hosted by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) successfully held in Beijing on 10 July 2019, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of CBCGDF made a concluding remark during the meeting. Here is Dr. Zhou’s speech:
Really appreciate the coming of Mr. Rene Castro and Mr. Kent Nnadozie and thank you very much for participating in our activities. I also want to thank the experts from the ministry of agriculture in various aspects. There are several topics I want to highlight briefly today.
Regarding the ITPGRFA Convention, we have been paying attention for a few years. If there is any problem with this work in the future. I hope that you can contact us. We will help establish a platform to promote accession to this convention as soon as possible.
Some experts have not spoken yet, but all the people present are professional. Every topic we discussed today is very important but has not been expanded. For example, agriculture, such important aspect as "Chinese medicine agriculture". We hope that in the future, we, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) will continue to cooperate with everyone on every issue to promote related work on the platform. We want to build a platform for people to make friends and promote their careers.
Today, I want to mention that the local government of Chongren is a county-level government. Some experts have said that the county-level government is very special in China. It is a platform which is very comprehensive and can promote the good development of some things. Chongren has established the CBCGDF China Conservation Area for Hemp Chicken for the biodiversity, ecological agriculture, and Chinese medicine agriculture. On behalf of the Chongren government, I welcome everyone to further promote the development of biodiversity and ecological civilization in this experimental site. Recently, we will give a special lecture on the development of biodiversity and ecological civilization by a central group in cooperation with Chongren to spread these new ideas and knowledge.
Thank you all again for your coming. Kindly bear with us if our reception extended to you were not up to your expectation. In the end, we talked with Mr. Rene Castro and Mr. Kent Nnadozie yesterday and reached an agreement on co-hosting a side event about agricultural food diversity for the CBD COP15 in Kunming next year. About a month ago, I talked to the executive secretary of CBD, and I told them that we want to hold agricultural biodiversity side events. We already applied for a series of side events, and then we were told to unite those side events. We think that in the agricultural biodiversity, we can combine cultures and species. We hope that through our platform, we can carry forward our respective cause and our common cause. Thanks! I hope you enjoy our Good Food today, thank you!
