Recently, representatives from China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) accompanied Dr. Rene Castro, the Assistant-Director General of Climate, Biodiversity, Land and Water Department of United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Mr. Kent Nnadozie, the Secretary of FAO’s International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA), visited Mr. Zhang Xinsheng, the President of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

 

The two parties of officials took the entry points on the IUCN World Conservation Congress (WCC) 2020 which will be held in Marseille, France and the Fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nation's Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15), which will be held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China in 2020, exchanged topics on effectively strengthening cooperation in the areas of agricultural biodiversity conservation and climate change.

 

During the meeting, the CBCGDF representative also introduced President Zhang Xinsheng about the Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), one of the “world’s top ten pests” that invaded China in January this year and its current state of prevention.
