On June 11, Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), was invited to attend the high-level roundtable forum of the Swedish Government.

During the conference, Johan Rockstrom, Director of the Potsdam Institute of Climate Impact Research and Professor of Stockholm Resilience Centre, summarized the current state of the global food systems from a scientific perspective and shared the first EAT-Lancet report to date to set scientific goals for healthy eating. The report points out that plant-based foods are healthy, sustainable and beneficial to human and earth. The adoption of healthy eating habits will promote the achievement of the United Nations sustainable development goals and the climate goals of the Paris Agreement.

It is worth noting that biodiversity conservation and global food systems change are closely related and mutually reinforcing. For example, in response to Africa swine fever in the second half of 2018, Secretary-General Zhou Jinfeng pointed out: "Biodiversity is of great significance to the balance and stability of ecosystems and immune resistance to major epidemics. The main reason for African swine fever is that the rapid disappearance of animal biodiversity. The results of the second national survey of livestock genetic resources conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture show that 31 species are endangered or on the verge of extinction. In the era of industrial civilization, the pig industry is characterized by a single breed, fast speed, scale and market-oriented by consumer taste.

Since its inception, the CBCGDF has spared no effort to carry out biodiversity conservation at the three levels of species, genes, and ecosystems, and to innovate the concept and practice of biodiversity conservation. Secretary-General Zhou Jinfeng was invited to make an opening speech at the Roundtable Forum on "Biodiversity is the basic strategy and priority of land and marine food systems". First of all, he shared the experience of the CBCGDF on biodiversity conservation. CBCGDF innovates the System of China Conservation Area for sth at somewhere (CCAfa), provides solutions to habitat fragmentation and other issues, and constructs ecological corridors to effectively protect endangered species such as Acer pentaphyllum, great bustard, bluefin tuna, Spotted Seal, Mongolian gazelle and etc. The China Conservation Area of CBCGDF is an effective complement to the existing system. The CBCGDF encourages all parties to participate in biodiversity conservation, strengthens the propaganda and education on biodiversity conservation, actively guides social groups and grassroots people to participate widely, strengthens information disclosure and public opinion supervision, and establishes an effective mechanism for the whole society to participate in biodiversity conservation. With regard to sustainable food systems, the CBCGDF advocates consumption and production in line with ecological civilization. For example, from the consumer's point of view, restrict the demand for endangered species such as pangolin; from the producer's point of view, advocate green production and reduce resource waste, and develop a green, low-carbon and sustainable circular economy model.

The outcome of the conference will be further discussed at the Stockholm food forum from 12 to 13 June. It will also provide potential thinking directions for Climate Action Summit and High-level Conference on National Health to be held during the UN General Assembly in September this year.

The CBCGDF was invited to attend the High-level roundtable of the Swedish government as one of the 20 delegates. On the one hand, it proves that the efforts of CBCGDF in the field of biodiversity conservation and sustainable development have been recognized. On the other hand, it shows that future work is of great responsibility.
