Recently, Mr. Tim Scott, Senior Policy Adviser of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), visited the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) to exchange future collaboration issues.

Before visiting CBCGDF, Tim Scott had made acquaintance with Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of the CBCGDF and colleagues from CBCGDF at a side event themed “Likeminded Megadiverse Countries as Leaders for the Ecological Belt and Road Initiative” co-hosted by CBCGDF during the Fourteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP14) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt last November. Time flies, before this time’s meeting with Dr. Zhou, Tim learned some introduction information about CBCGDF’s main work.

After the meeting started, a brief introduction was given by Dr. Zhou. Mr. Scott asked couldn’t help asking: "I have learned the work of CBCGDF covers all aspects of biodiversity and environment protection. How do you manage to take care of so many things?" Dr. Zhou answered: "24/7".

During the meeting, Dr. Zhou also excitedly shared two great news with Mr. Scott. Dr. Zhou mentioned: "If we don't strengthen the protection, I believe that the pangolin will disappear in a decade. The number of captured pangolins is increasing, and the pangolins in Asia are almost gone due to uncontrollable consumption. The good news is that I received news that the government intends to legislate related regulation and strengthen law enforcement on pangolin conservation before the Fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15) in China. In the meantime, CBCGDF has been invited to participate in the process of the formulation of the proposed law."

“The second exciting news is that the Guangdong Wildlife Rescue Center invited us to participate in the pangolins rescue work. We must know that during these three years, our attitude towards pangolin protection is very firm. Therefore, the government is finally willing to cooperate with us. I am thrilled. "

When hearing this good news, Mr. Scott shook hands with Dr. Zhou twice, expressing his warm congratulations and recognition to CBCGDF.

Mr. Scott said, “CBCGDF has done so many things, and the world should know its stories.”
