In mid-April of 2019, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) was invited to the Climate Change International Conference (“Climate CONF 2k19”) held in Beijing. The conference gathered together with researchers, ecologists and scholars from all the world. The form of the event includes keynote speeches, oral presentations, poster presentation, student presentation and more. The theme this year is “Climate Change, Management and its Social Impact”.

It is true that in the face of the increasingly severe emergency of climate change, China's response to climate change has not yet been understood and supported by the whole people. CBCGDF has already adopted the NPC and CPPCC two sessions meetings of recommendations and proposals and other forms, calling for the establishment of institutions and mechanisms to increase public participation in climate change, and to make the climate change response cause universal. Moreover, as a non-governmental organization (NGO) that is committed to ecological frontiers and sustainable development, CBCGDF will work hard to reduce carbon emissions, promote the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and promote green and low-carbon development. The relevant research was initiated, and the community was also urged to promote energy conservation and emission reduction and actively respond to climate change. CBCGDF has led by example and participate in the global promotion of the commitment to divestment from the fossil fuel industry. Through the efforts of the previous stage, promotion and implementation of low-carbon sustainable development with various partners, CBCGDF has joined the global great camp to promote carbon decarbonation and environmental protection.

During the conference, Dr. Zhou gave an excellent keynote presentation themed on “China and the Global Climate Emergency”. Warm thanks to Ms. Sandrine Dixson-Decleve's kind input to the presentation. Sandrine is Co-President of the Club of Rome. As the executive committee member of the international think tank the Club of Rome, Dr. Zhou paricularly presented the "Climage Emergency Plan", a call proposed by the Club of Rome. It calls on all stakeholders - governments, civil society, businesses - to adopt an emergency action plan to comply with the Carbon Law Initiative. By 2030, global greenhouse gas emissions will be halved, and zero net worth will be reached by 2050. And industrialized countries provide at least $100 billion annuall to low-income countries in accordance with the Paris Commitment to support the development and adaptation of low-carbon technologies.

Dr. Zhou was invited as a member of the organizing committee of this conference. After the event, the organizers specifically expressed their gratitude for Zhou’s attending. Dr. Zhou was also awarded as the “Guest of Honor” during the event. The organizers have also discussed future cooperation with CBCGDF.
