On March 28, 2019, the long-awaited "2019 Anti-Electric Fishing Convention" was finally held in Beijing and ended successfully. Volunteers, government administrations and charitable organizations from the aquatic and biological fields of various rivers and lakes in China gathered together to jointly protect China's aquatic living resources and water environment. At the convention, China's first "Anti-Electric Fishing Day" was also born.

This convention was co-organized by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) FDY Fish Protection Center and the Flowing Creek and River Environment Protection Public Welfare Center in Zigong City, Sichuan Province. It aims at exploring new ways and new direction for the effective protection of aquatic living resources by the government, social organizations and the public in the new situation, and promote the participation of all sectors of society in biodiversity conservation; Testing the use of information networks to establish a big data platform, providing support for relevant government departments to analyze, research and judge, and make decisions to combat illegal fishing; Exchanging analysis and recommendations in the field of aquatic biological resources protection; Exploring the sustainable development of corporate social responsibility and fisheries. To promote the mainstreaming of biodiversity by demonstrating and communicating typical success stories of conservation of aquatic biodiversity in the Yangtze River Basin, to lay a solid foundation for the Fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nation’s Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15) will be held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China in late 2020, and the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

Moreover, this “Anti-Electric Fishing Convention” is also the CBCGDF’s joint efforts to promote the protection of aquatic biodiversity in order to comprehensively and effectively promote China’s anti-electric fishing work, and to jointly link the relevant departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Aquatic Association, and the environmental protection organization.
