China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), a leading non-governmental organization dedicated to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development, has been advocating for improved and the development of sustainable quality of people, animals, the environment and quality of life by changing lifestyles.

In the past two days, members of CBCGDF delegation of the 4th Session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA4) in Nairobi, Kenya, have experienced and participated in a remarkable topic of this event – sustainable fashion.

CBCGDF's ACTAsia Special Fund is used to support life-care education, caring ability development, caring and sustainable lifestyle leadership, and life-care professionalism and sustainable development of vocational education to promote respect for others. Be kind to animals, protect the environment, and practice the rich lifestyle of Compassionate Lifestyle with a sustainable concept to help the cause of ecological green development.

ACTAsia's Zero Fur Project runs with international zero fur sales. The story behind the fur, cruelty and catastrophic environmental damage caused by production are revealed to consumers. Whether it is captive wildlife or captured stray dogs and cats, the pain they suffer during feeding, capture, slaughter, or the environmental damage caused by the process of converting animal fur into usable fur garments, these should not be Consumers who are supported by sustainable development are ignored. The project encourages fashion designers and salespeople to promise never to use real animal fur, and also invites consumers to add a force to life in the fur fashion. Since 2010, ACTAsia has been promoting the fashion industry to reflect on fur and has received strong support from many outstanding designers and fashion brands. Cutting-edge fashion companies and brands have chosen a zero-fur policy that echoes consumer concerns about clothing sources and production processes. Zero fur is an important step towards social consensus and the sustainable fashion industry.

On March 13th, CBCGDF delegation participated in a unique film virtual reality (VR) experience: "X-Ray Fashion: Seeing Through A Toxic Industry"X-Ray Fashion exposes the dark story of the world’s second largest polluter: the fashion industry. Directed by Italian-born director and fashion photographer Francesco Carrozzini, X-Ray Fashion is a cinematic VR experience built around a 49-square meter physical installation that guides the viewer through the different stages of garment production from cotton farm to sweatshop, and from the catwalk to consumer purchase to the afterlife of the garment. It is a cinematic VR experience. The seven scenes of the film consist of 360-degree live-action footage that imparts a stunning, photo-realistic atmosphere. The transitions between the scenes consist of a CGI environment that allows the viewer to walk between the different scenes.

This cinematic experience is a pioneering VR piece that tests the implementation of physical and sensory effects through settings that incorporate heat, wind, scent and shifting terrain. By adding multidimensional sensorial effects, the filmmakers seek to draw the participant into an immersive physical experience that enriches storytelling in a new way. X-Ray Fashion, which premiered in Competition at the 75th Venice Film Festival, uses the futuristic medium to convey a strong political message about the fashion industry, which is responsible for 20% of global wastewater and 10% of global carbon emissions, as well as being linked to human rights violations.

Mr. Ted Richane, Director of Impact and Engagement of Vulcan Productions, the company that produced this film has already approached CBCGDF. The two parties intend to cooperate and work together to promote the transformation of sustainable fashion and sustainable lifestyle in China through virtual reality technology to fill the blan in the field in China.

On March 13th, another side from CBCGDF delegation participated in Pop-up Chat with the theme “The Future of Fashion for Social Impact”. The founders of high-end fashion brands from all over the world have detailed interpretations of recent discoveries and innovative approaches to the development of apparel materials in the field of sustainable development, including new types of silk and cellulose extracted from tree species. The representative of CBCGDF made a speech at the meeting and introduced to everyone the Zero Fur Project advocated by the ACTAsia Special Fund of CBCGDF over the years.
