Zhou Jinfeng Met with the President of Georgetown University and Exchanges Ideas on Extensive Cooperation

On November 4, 2018, Beijing time, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, met with Dr.John J. DeGioia, the President of Georgetown University. Dr. DeGioia was invited to attend the 2018 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) which was held in Beijing from November 1st to 3rd. As co-chair, Dr. DeGioia also presided over the CCICED open forum themed on Green Urbanization. Moreover, Georgetown University and the CCICED signed an academic support unit agreement.

During the intermittent of the CCICED, Dr. Zhou and Dr. DeGioia continued their discussions on the topics of the CCICED and exchanged views on the cooperation between Georgetown University and CBCGDF. Areas of cooperation include the establishment of corporate cooperation mechanisms. At the same time, Georgetown University invited CBCGDF to work together with the CCICED to strengthen strategic cooperation in a wider range of areas.

 

In this meeting, Dr. DeGioia also thanked Dr. Zhou for his contribution to the cooperation between Georgetown University and Peking University. In early 2018, as a member of WCEL under IUCN, Dr. Zhou was invited by Georgetown University and UN Environment to recommend law fellows.

 

Georgetown University is a private research university in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States. Founded in 1789 as Georgetown College, the university has grown to comprise nine undergraduate and graduate schools, among which are the School of Foreign Service, School of Business, Medical School, and Law School.

 

Georgetown’s notable alumni include the former U.S. President Bill Clinton, the former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, the former CIA Director George Tenet, and King Felipe of Spain, the Hollywood film star Bradley Cooper, as well as the royalty and heads of state of more than a dozen countries. In 2015, Georgetown had 1190 alumni working as diplomats for the U.S. Foreign Service, more than any other university. In 2014, Georgetown ranked second in the nation by the average number of graduates serving in the U.S. Congress. Georgetown is also a top feeder school for careers in finance and investment banking on Wall Street.
