The GYBN Asian Capacity Building Workshop in Hyderabad, India, was a huge success for the youth across Asia. Thanks to this auspicious workshop, we had a chance to get in touch with such wonderful people from different countries. It makes us realize biodiversity exist everywhere. We are part of the biodiversity.

To be more engaged in the process of CBD, CBCGDF will also be holding a side event in CBD COP 14 and has worked closely with IUCN WCPA to coordinate with their side event on Areas on Connectivity Conservation. In the side events, CBCGDF will present how we preserve pangolin, how to protect volunteers by issuing certificate, how we successfully establish Conservation Area for Tiaozini Wetland and promote it into the list of World Heritage.

In the last two days of the workshop, the representative of CBCGDF came up with the action plan for 2018-2020 with teammates from China and Japan. No matter in China and Japan, we reached an agreement that education is the root cause of over use of palm oil, or over consumption in China.

Therefore, our action plan was to hold various workshop in forms of lectures and debates to raise awareness, develop capacity and build up a youth network to gather as much as youngsters concerned about the future generation as well as the earth. And the timeline would be before CBD COP15 in Beijing.

While going to the field trip to Amrabad Tiger Reserve, we were shown that how they controlled garbage and plastics, develop tourism, manage water resource, control forest fires and grassland. The staff from the reserve has also present their soft release of Mousedeer project to better preserve tiger.

Whether it is empowerment of the indigenous and local communities, of the youth across the globe, engagement in raising awareness, challenging the existing policy framework, we have promised to to do it all, not only regionally, but in alliance with youth across the globe.

Representative of CBCGDF has also made strong connections with different people across Asia and was committed to continue the network built in the workshop.

Even though an inspirational week has now come to an end, their vision will last longer. Biodiversity is our way of life.
