Out of several hundred of organizations working in biodiversity conservation, CBCGDF is being selected for "Global Youth Biodiversity Network" - Asia Capacity Building Workshop in Hyderabad, India, an opportunity for CBCGDF to manifest its work as well as learning international experience at an International forum.

In the workshop, the representative of CBCGDF has shown our commitment towards Aichi targets, SDGs, and our active participation in the process of CBD COP, CITES, CMS and so forth to make Chinese NGOs’ voice heard.

In the meantime, endeavor in the past 33 years of CBCGDF falls on preserving biodiversity - 69 Community Conservation Areas (CCAfa) has been established.

GYBN Asian Capacity Building Workshop was a great success. The workshop was inaugurated in the morning, wherein, the organizers initiated the event by thanking the chief guests, fellows and volunteers who helped with the preparations, which was then proceeded with lamp lighting. Participants, along with everyone else, chanted their way into a productive day.

Environment experts presented detailed information on various topics such as Economic Evaluation of Ecosystem Services, Development v/s Conservation, Biodiversity National Reporting, and much more.

The workshop grew more and more interactive and energetic with group activities and discussions. With a group of participants from other countries, the representative of CBCGDF also came up with detailed analysis of the NBSAPs, Aichi Targets and the progress and challenges of China, and also some great suggestions.

The event was embodied with discussions, group activities, presentations by experts and participants, field visits, new learning, and sharing of new experiences. One of the crucial topics of the group discussions included the main contention issues of COP 14- Synthetic biology, genetic patrimony, inclusive conservation, and synthetic biology.

 

In the discussion of Synthetic biology, representative of CBCGDF has come up with what they want to say with the group as global youth leaders. Among the suggestions, assessment of technology is the priority one. Others are assessment of media bias, transparency of technology use, education before the release, etc.
