Local sceneries in Dubai – Although the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are well-known for the arid climate worldwide, their ecosystem of wetlands is one of the most unique and diverse ecosystems on the Arab peninsula. It includes various spots such as swamps, wide intertidal zones, fresh water aqueducts, red wood and coral reef. UAE joined the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in 2007 and has registered 5 wetlands on the list of crucial international wetlands (“Ramsar wetlands”) till now. These 5 registered wetlands are rated as being of high value for UAE and the whole world because they provide quality service for the global ecosystem. (Photo: CBCGDF)
