CBCGDF Representative Participates “Global Youth Biodiversity Network Capacity Building Workshop 2018 Asia”

In mid-October, Global Youth Biodiversity Network Capacity Building Workshop 2018 Asia was held in Telangana Forest Department, Hyderabad, India. With its commitment to biodiversity conservation, the CBCGDF sent a representative to participate in this event as it is intended to response to “going global’ and foster international talents. The CBCGDF representative was selected as one of the participants out of hundreds of young talents across Asia.

 

On 14th, October, the CBCGDF representative arrived in Hyderabad, India. At the workshop, the representative was going to join the team bonding, network and training courses of international biodiversity conservation policy, mobilization, promotion, activity skills and program management.

 

Over the past 33 years, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation has developed its career from single endangered species to biodiversity conservation ( Biodiversity includes three aspects, namely gene, species, ecology.) The regional workshop which lasts a week gathers 15 to 18 young leaders in biodiversity conservation across the globe. The workshop will cover as follows.

 

? Mobilize network/community of all local levels, regions and countries to enhance public awareness and political will of biodiversity conservation

 

? Promote Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD, www. Cbd.int), CBD 2010-2021 Strategic Plans and Aichi Targets

 

? Promote the key parts of biodiversity strategic plan and discuss how young people collaborate with local administration to implement relevant plans

 

? Boost specific decisions and practice the legal-binding decisions in local, regional and state level

 

? Participate in global action so as to assess priorities of the youth’s program and urge government, enterprises and the public to take actions for harmonious relationship with nature in the future

 

? Mobilize the young people so that their opinions will be able to considered in 2020 ecosystem framework

 

Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) is an international network formed by 145 youth groups which represented by 37000 members from 115 countries. GYBN aims to deliver voices of global youth in CBD and strengthen their recognition of value of biodiversity. It is also intended to form a linkage between individuals and youth organization in ways to establish a global union preventing the loss of biodiversity.

 

On 14th October, the CBCGDF representative arrived Hyderabad, India and made preparation for the event. The workshop, lasting 6 days will be held in Hyderabad Forestry University.
