During the 8th China (Guizhou) Liquor Expo and the 2018 Guizhou Inland Open Economy Experimental Zone Investment and Trade Fair, Dr. Jinfeng Zhou, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, was invited to meet with the Vice Governor of Guizhou Province. In the meeting, Dr. Zhou highlighted two core tasks currently being promoted by CBCGDF: the International Dark-Sky Conference and the Global Green Design Conference.

Looking at the stars through the atmosphere, a clear night condition is necessary for astronomical monitoring. Recently, China's 500-meter spherical radio telescope was launched in Guizhou and has received extensive attention domestically and abroad. The CBCGDF congratulates this as it is a unique advantage brought by Guizhou's good ecological environment and dark sky conditions. As a pioneering social organization for the protection of dark night sky in the country, CBCGDF has achieved a series of achievements in this field.

In 2015, CBCGDF set up a Dark Star Work Committee and a professional work team to fully promote the construction of dark night sky protection sites, to issue standard documents such as the “Measures for the Management of Dark Nights”, and to establish close ties with the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) to fully open up the opportunity of the dark night conservation in China. At the beginning of 2018, the two CBCGDF CCAfas for Dark Sky were established in Ali and Nagqu, and they were officially selected into the "World Dark Sky Protected Areas" list, filling the gap in China's field. CBCGDF's member of the Dark Night Star Work Committee was also accepted as a full member by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Dark Night Advisory Board.

Next, CBCGDF will plan to organize the World Dark Sky Conference, aiming to further promote exchanges and cooperation between countries around the world on dark night sky resources, culture, scientific research and eco-tourism. At the same time, it actively issued a good voice in the field of dark night sky protection in China and promoted the continuous improvement of the research on night protection, the popularization of science education, and the sustainable development of related industries.

Also, the signing ceremony of the 2019 Global Green Design Conference was held in Beijing on August 19 this year. Dr. Zhou introduced the theme of the conference as “Promoting the World's Green Development and Building a Global Ecological Civilization”. The green design perspective of the sustainable development concept guides the whole society to promote green development from the top-level planning and provide new forms for creating a green development environment. At the same time, it actively implements the central decision-making and promotes the construction of beautiful China. At present, CBCGDF has reported this activity to the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and is actively cooperating with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Anhui Provincial People's Government, the United Nations Environment Program, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the Club of Rome, IUCN, the World Green Design Organization and other institutions.

As a large ecological province, Guizhou Province has high-quality dark night resources and a good natural environment. In industrial planning, it pays attention to the advantages of “green mountains and green mountains” and practices the “two mountains” theory. Dr. Zhou also sent a warm invitation to Guizhou during the talks, hoping to gather more strengths and high-quality resources to jointly promote the preparation of the World Dark-Sky Conference and the Global Green Design Conference. The deputy governor expressed his welcome and support to the Dr. Zhou for introducing relevant work, and will arrange relevant departments to actively promote it. Both CBCGDF and the government of Guizhou look forward to further cooperation to help Guizhou's green development.
