Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, the Secretary-General of CBCGDF and a member of IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL), has officially joined the Specialist Group of the "Global Pact for the Environment".

In environmental protection, there is no specific law to regulate countries’ conduct. Although pledges and promises have been made by countries, they were simply a formality with no legal restraint. For decades, law experts have been working on the law on the environment. And the "Global Pact for the Environment" was thus established as the situation required with the efforts of the specialists.

CBCGDF has been always pushing forward the national environmental law on issues like solid waste. And it has been engaging in settling the environmental conflicts by the Environmental Public Interest Litigation (EPIL).

Dr.Zhou being invited to the Specialist Group of the "Global Pact for the Environment" is indeed a great news for better knowledge and human resources will be gathered for the betterment of the environment.

He once proposed to Lauren Fabius (President of the Constitutional Council of the French Republic and former President of the Paris Climate Conference)that the "Global Pact for the Environment" should be linked to “Building a community of a shared future for mankind” and his article on the "Global Pact for the Environment" was published on "Social Governance Review".

A new initiative to prepare, introduce, and eventually adopt the "Global Pact for the Environement" is being chaired by Laurent Fabius. In close cooperation with the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL), and with operational support from the Environment Commission of the Club des Juristes (France’s first think tank) led by Yann Aguila, a drafting committee was convened on 23 June, 2017.
