On May 24, 2023, Dr. Kent Nnadozie, the Secretary General of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) of FAO and a special expert invited by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), visited the national crop germplasm resource bank in the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

As the second largest crop "seed bank" in the world in terms of capacity, the National Crop Germplasm Resource Bank left a profound impression on Dr. Kent Nnadozie. He expressed high appreciation for the progressiveness of the National Crop Germplasm Resource Bank in resource conservation, automatic operation and high-tech equipment.

Dr. Kent Nnadozie mentioned that in December of 2022, China took the lead in convening the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 15) and approved the "Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework", which includes an important goal on access and benefit sharing, which was innovative in many aspects. With the rapid development of technology, the issue of access and benefit sharing had entered the era of Genomics. He expressed the hope that the ITPGRFA could also make an equally ambitious attempt and play a greater role in the implementation of the "Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework".
