On June 2, 2023, the seminar "Environment Protection Synergizes Tobacco Control, Helping to Achieve the 'Double Carbon' Goals and Win-Win in Health" organized by the Tobacco Control Working Group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) was successfully held at the China Science and Technology Hall. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary General of CBCGDF, delivered an opening speech  shared as follows:

Good morning, honorable guests and experts. First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the new and old friends, guests, leaders, and scholars present today.

Smoking control is very important for the environment protection. Although tobacco control is a challenging task, it is crucial for personal health, public health, Earth health, and environmental health, as well as sustainable development.

Since the implementation of the new environmental protection law, CBCGDF has effectively participated in tobacco control work through environmental public interest litigation. We have also suggested to relevant departments that the Ministry of Ecology and Environment join the Interdepartmental Coordination Leading Group for the Implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

Today, we are going to further discuss topics on ‘environment protection and Tobacco control’. We hope everyone can express their opinions freely and fully to put forward more suggestions in order to promote the implementation of China's tobacco control compliance work and attach importance to people's health and environmental health, so as to build a beautiful China in the form of building a community with a shared future for mankind.
