The South-South Biodiversity Science Project of CBCGDF Held 2023 Latin America Regional Working Conference

On the afternoon of January 18, 2023, the South-South Biodiversity Science Project of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (SSBSP-CBCGDF) held the 2023 Latin America Regional Working Conference. The Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF presided over the meeting.

 

Prof. Marco Antonio Cabero Zabalaga, Deputy Secretary-General of SSBSP-CBCGDF reviewed the work in 2022, and reported the plan for 2023, including but not limited to: the annual events plan, key topics of international journals, the cooperation with scientific organizations in the field of biodiversity in Latin America, the theme of World Green Science Day 2023, youth engagement and science communication. He will mobilize Latin American scientists and representatives of civil society to participate in the "From Montreal to World People - 2023 International Biodiversity Conference" (IBCOP 2023), which is to be held on May 22-24, 2023.

 

The discussion mainly focused on the work plan for 2023, especially on how to promote regional scientific exchanges and people-to-people bonds. The Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF appreciated the efforts of SSBSP in 2022 to promote China-Latin America non-governmental friendship and scientific cooperation, and pointed out that it is of great significance to promote the common sustainable development of China and Latin American countries through scientific and cultural exchanges. SSBSP will strive to promote capacity building, science popularization, information sharing and personnel training, develop non-governmental exchanges and scientific and technological cooperation between China and Latin America, and help expand the space for international scientific and technological cooperation.
