On December 17, 2022, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Environmental and Allergy Medicine Professional Committee kick-off meeting was held in Beijing.

Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF, Wang Chen, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Cheng Lei, Director-designate of the Allergy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and Director of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University,  Mr. Qiu Ning and other experts and industry insiders attended the meeting.

 Academician Wang Chen made several key points in his speech:

One is health. The word “health”, on the basis of the past three meanings, should add another meaning called environmental health. ??Secondly, health emphasizes interdependence between human body and mind, interdependence between human beings and animals, interdependence between human beings, interdependence between human beings and the environment, etc. So One Health finally achieves the great healthy and harmonious world, which is advocated in the globe, deserves everyone's attention.

??In addition, we should not only pay attention to individual health, but also common health. ??Group medicine maximizes the health benefits of the group, which is different from the general so-called clinical medicine that only targets individuals and seeks to refine their individualization. ??This group of medicine has a closer relationship with the environment. The impact of allergic diseases such as asthma on the environment is the most common phenomenon we have seen. In fact, the relationship between the environment and health is much more than that.

I am very glad that the meeting of the medical community talked about environmental issues. Environmental issues are very important. I hope that the medical community and the whole society will work together to interpret and think about the close relationship between the environment and health.
