Watermarks are Critical to Restoring Global Biodiversity. Prof. Zhou Jinfeng is Invited to Participate in the “International Congress on Integrated Water Management” in Bolivia

On October 27th, 2022 from 21:00 to 22:00 (Beijing time),  Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) was invited to participate in the plenary session at the “International congress on integrated water management (ICIWM)” This presentation was possible thanks to the collaboration of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, the Andean Road Countries for Science and Technology (ARCST) and the network of Bolivian Universities dedicated to Biodiversity Conservation, Green Development and Integrated water management.

During the congress, Prof. Zhou Jinfeng, who is also an advisor of the Andean Road Countries for Science and Technology (ARCST), actively disseminated the Chinese experience in water resources protection and environmental governance. Prof. Zhou also shared his views on the first-level discipline construction of water resources, water environment, soil and water conservation, desertification control, and public participation. China's environmental rule of law, environmental governance, and environmental public interest litigation (EPIL). Carbon equality (ERoC) technology transfer, the synergy between biodiversity protection and climate change, etc. Through several study cases, he engaged the audience in a Q&A session that extended the presentation for more than an hour. Most of the participants were interested in the technological strategies implemented by China to manage water sustainably. The round of questions extended for more than an hour, as the participants wanted to know more about the expertise of China in this field. The organizers expressed their gratitude for the valuable information that was shared by Prof. Zhou. As a result of this congress, the organizers proposed to organize ,collaboration research projects between Europe, China, and Latin America to promote solutions to several needs of this Latin American region in particular. Those are deforestation, desertification, water pollution, water management, and water governance.

Finally, the experience of China in water management and water governance, together with strategies for biodiversity restoration in rivers and lakes as well as fighting desertification with science and technology might be useful to explore.1-3 Andean Road Countries for Science and Technology (ARCST) and China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) promote the knowledge exchange, the appreciation of science, the green development and biodiversity protection through active practices of diffusion of information and communication exchanges, bridging geographic and language barriers.
