Global Open Science Cloud Held Second All Hands Meeting | Prospective Research on Ethical Issues in Scientific and Technological Innovation

The Second All hands meeting of the Global Open Science Cloud (GOSC) of the CODATA was held from 7:00~10pm on October 13th.  Experts of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) attended the meeting.

The Global Open Science Cloud aims to co-design and build a global electronic infrastructure and virtual research environment for global collaboration and open science through unified policies, interoperability protocols, transparent services, and ongoing mechanisms. It encourages cooperation, and ultimately alignment and interoperability between open science infrastructure initiatives around the world. It enables active collaboration across continents through a series of scientific and data case studies.

 

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Simon Hodson, Executive Director of CODATA, who first introduced the overall agenda of the meeting. Next, each Case Studies and Working Groups made updated reports on their respective work.

A White Paper on GOSC vision and mission was reported on the meeting. The Vision of GOSC is Cooperation and alignment between Global Open Science Cloud activities in robust network of trusted research e-Infrastructures to connect research resources and all stakeholders to enable innovative science discovery in the dynamically evolving global open science environment.

The missions are: Encourage cooperation, and ultimately alignment and interoperability between Open Science /Research Clouds/Platforms; Connect various institutional national and regional initiatives, laying the foundations for cross-continental, federated, Open Science and FAIR infrastructure and virtual research environments; GOSC Framework: identify priority, best practices, cooperations, and sharing.
