As evident by the unprecedented floods in Pakistan, strengthening international cooperation on climate change is a matter of utmost urgency. This year, flooding in Pakistan has affected over 35 million people and destroyed infrastructure and crops worth billions of dollars. After a recent visit to the country, UN Secretary General António Guterres has urged the international community to stand in solidarity with Pakistan, and to strengthen global governance and address climate inaction.

Under the vision of a Community with a Shared Future, previously, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary General of CBCGDF and Wang Fei, researcher of Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Ministry of Water Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, sent a letter to relevant units in Pakistan, expecting to promote China and Pakistan when it is most needed in Pakistan's disaster relief and reconstruction. Together with the scientists from both countries, they will carry out a systematic survey on the causes of floods and their damages nationwide this year, analyze the possibility of coping with climate change disasters through technologies such as soil and water conservation, and put forward relevant suggestions and countermeasures, so as to provide scientific and feasible basis for disaster prevention and mitigation in Pakistan.
