"National Park Law and Nature Reserve Regulations Amendment Seminar" Successfully Held on September 14 | 74,000 Viewers Participated Online

On September 14, 2022, the "National Park Law and Nature Reserve Regulations Amendment Seminar" was jointly held online by the Legal Working Committee of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) and the Law School of China University of Political Science and Law.

 

Experts from universities, research institutes, national parks and nature reserves, delegates from CBCGDF attended the meeting, discussing about the current construction practices of Chinese national parks and nature reserves, and problems and confusions they have encountered, etc. They made recommendations on draft legislation for the National Parks Act and draft amendments to the Nature Reserve Regulations. The Seminar was broadcast live on CBCGDF Media with 74,000 viewers participating online.

Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary General of CBCGDF, gave an opening speech for the meeting. He pointed out that in the past 9 years, CBCGDF has always paid attention to the work of making suggestions for the formulation of standards for biodiversity and green development. CBCGDF has established nearly 200 CCAfa across the country, and has collected many BCON cases. It is hoped that the experts will put forward constructive opinions and suggestions, and contribute their knowledge and wisdom to the legislation of national parks and the management of nature reserves.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ma Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of CBCGDF. In his concluding remarks, Mr. Ma Yong said that he would systematically summarize and sort out the opinions of the participants to form an opinion draft which will be submitted to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China. CBCGDF will also organize the speeches of the guests in detail and publish them on CBCGDF media.
