The South-South Biodiversity Science Project was Introduced in the Fifth forum on China and Latin American Countries (LAC): Dialogue between Civilizations

During the 1st and 2nd, of September 2022, Dr. Marco A. Cabero our deputy secretary general of the South-South Biodiversity Science Project (SSBSP), participated as a speaker in the Fifth forum on China and LAC: Dialogue between Civilizations. Nearly a hundred guests from Latin American countries were invited. The event gathered politicians, diplomats, experts and scholars, media representatives, and heads of enterprises and businesses from 10 nations including Ecuador, Jamaica, Guyana, and Bolivia. The main purpose of the forum was to exchange ideas and visions to promote the "construction of a China-Latin America network through global development initiatives (GDI) and build a community with a shared future for mankind."

Dr. Cabero shared the experience and practice gained through the implementation of the first of the four phases of the SSBSP that aims to foster actions for biodiversity conservation and green development in Latin America building the knowledge network. During the forum, Dr. Cabero established communication with experts and scholars from different Chinese and Latin American academic institutions and scientific research centers dedicated to biodiversity conservation, green science, education, sustainability science, anthropology, etc. Mutual interest was manifested among parties to explore the possibility to join efforts and work together to systematically collaborate in actions to protect the biodiversity in Latin America, reduce de carbon foot print, promote the green energy, the green IT, sustainable lifestyle, climate change actions, green development and the circular economy from a scientific, technological and educational approach. Further communications between China and Latin America will provide avenues to realize the necessary actions to live sustainably in harmony with nature.
