On August 29, 2022, the Biodiversity Standards in Mining Area Working Group of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation Standards Working Committee (CBCGDF Standards Committee) held the second working meeting to study and discuss the biodiversity standards in mining area. The participants exchanged information on the purpose of formulating biodiversity standards in mining area, the internationalization of standards, and resource mobilization.

Dr. Zhou Jinfeng pointed out that we must first formulate group standards for biodiversity in mining areas, in order to provide guidance and assistance to biodiversity conservation in mining areas as soon as possible. Then we will strive to make national standards and industry standards for biodiversity in mining areas, and enter into the international standard system.

Zhou Jinfeng said that the biodiversity standards for mining areas should introduce more partners, strive to establish extensive partnerships, and allow to involve the relevant institutions with sufficient practical experience and long-term participation in relevant governance. Our standards are not for corporate interests, but for the interests of the public environment. Of course, our standards are for the healthy development of enterprises, and more importantly, to protect the ecological environment.
