Ninth South-South Sustainability Forum Opens to Discuss Modern Civilization Disintegration and Human Future | Co-hosted by CBCGDF, Lingnan University and Guoren Global University

From July 8th to August 12th, 2022, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), Department of Ecology and Culture of Center for Cultural Research and Development of Lingnan University, and Guoren Global University jointly hosted the 9th South-South Sustainability Forum.

The South-South Sustainability Forum was initiated in 2011 by Prof. WEN Tiejun and Prof. LIU Jianzhi. With the concept of sustainable practice and diversified ecological civilization, based on the experience and reality of developing countries, the forum aims to promote the widespread development of alternative practices, dialogues and exchanges in the world, to form a South-South diversified cooperation mode, and to seek new ways of inclusive and sustainable practice under the challenges of globalization.

 

As a platform for South-South cooperation and exchange, the South-South Sustainability Forum is dedicated to promoting ecological and socio-economic justice and carrying on the wisdom of people. From 2011 to 2021, the forum has been held eight times, and has focused on society, history, livelihood, food, rural areas, climate change, ecology and other issues. The theme of the 9th South-South Sustainable Forum in 2022 is " Modern Civilization Disintegration and Human Future ". 34 sessions in total will be held online in this forum.

 

On July 15, Dr. ZHOU Jinfeng, Deputy Chairman and Secretary General of CBCGDF, delivered a keynote speech on ecological civilization and South-South cooperation. Prof. WEN Tiejun and Hernán José VARGAS PéREZ, Minister of Communes and Social Movements of Venezuela, attended the forum as guests.

 

On July 16, YAN Xiaohui of Lingnan University, SHU Yuying, Deputy Director of Carbon Neutrality Fund of CBCGDF, and ZHENG Huan, Youth Leadership Fund of CBCGDF, as the forum guests, discussed the topics on construction of South-South international youth network, talent demand for international development, and relationship between globalization and young talent.
