Recently, Dr. Palitha T. B. Kohona, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China, accepted the accepted the invitation of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF). He will participate the 2022 UN Oceans Conference Online Side EventMarine Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development: Promoting Synergies Between SDGs 4,7,13,14 and 15. He will attend the meeting via video.

The 2022 United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development(or the 2022 UN Ocean Conference) will be held from 27 June – 1st July 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal. The overarching theme of the 2022 UN Ocean Conference is Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions

The ocean is the cradle of life and the treasure house of resources. The ocean nurtures life, connects the world and promotes development. The ocean is an important area of global biodiversity governance and global science and technology governance. In order to actively respond to the call of building an open and innovative ecology and participating in global science and technology governance" and help build a community with a shared future for the ocean, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) actively participates in global ocean governance, and will form a delegation to participate in the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference.

On June 30, CBCGDF and ACTAsia will co-host an event themed "Marine Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development: Promoting Synergies Between SDGs 4,7,13,14 and 15" online Side Event.

This event will focus on conservation and sustainable development of marine biodiversity from global to local, bio-friendly clean energy and marine education. Speakers will discuss marine animal conservation issues from different countries and disciplines.

This Side Event will demonstrate the importance of partnership in overcoming obstacles and highlight opportunities from diverse social and political backgrounds and experiences. The conference will be broadcast live simultaneously.
