This year, the International Day for Biological Diversity comes with the theme of "Building a shared future for all life", which is in line with the current context of the United Nations Decade for Ecosystem Restoration, which emphasizes biodiversity as the key to sustainable development challenges. Biodiversity is the foundation upon which we can rebuild a better home, involving an ecosystem-based climate approach and/or nature-based solutions for climate, health issues, food security, water security, and sustainable livelihoods.

In response to the call of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and to promote the building of a shared community of all life on Earth, China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) hosts the “International Biodiversity Summit: For Nairobi and Kunming” from May 22-23.

This conference will be an important prelude to the second phase of the 4th Nairobi Work Session and the 15th Conference of the Parties (CBD COP15) of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and will discuss hot topics in the run-up to CBD COP15 in four panels: Digital Sequence Information (DSI) and genetic biodiversity; agriculture, soils and biodiversity; wetland biodiversity, and Illegal Wildlife Trade.
