CBCGDF attended ENFORCE-6 to Explore Information Exchange for Cooperation in the Illegal Transport Regulatory Environment Network

On April 11-13, 2022, the Sixth meeting of the Environmental Network for Optimizing Regulatory Compliance on Illegal Traffic (ENFORCE-6) organized by the three chemical conventions (Basel Convention, Rotterdam Convention, and Stockholm Convention) was successfully held. China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) participated in the whole process. On the evening of April 12, the second ENFORCE meeting was held as scheduled.

The meeting focused on matters related to networking activities, including information exchange and identification of opportunities for collaboration. First, Ms. Jewel Batchasingh introduced the activities of the Group for Latin America and the Caribbean (GRULAC) in optimizing the network of the illegal transport regulatory environment, including workshops organized by the Biological Resource Collection and Research Center (BCRC) in the Caribbean.

Next, Ms. Leila Devia, the representative of GRULAC in Argentina, introduced the seminar on transboundary movement and illegal trafficking of chemicals and hazardous wastes in Latin America during the epidemic.

Then, Mr. Anton Purnomo, representative of BCRC Indonesia, introduced the participation of the Basel Convention Southeast Asia Regional Center and the Stockholm Convention Indonesia Regional Center in the network to optimize the regulatory environment for illegal transport.

Former International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) President Mr. Florisvindo Furtado also prepared a speech for the meeting, and Ms. Juliette Kohler introduced the ICC's recommendations to the COP-15 Executive Committee on preventing and combating illegal trafficking.

During the meeting, CBCGDF representatives had in-depth discussions with Ms. Jewel Batchasingh, the Latin American representative, and invited her to participate in the upcoming Latin American Forum held by CBCGDF.
