On September 17, 2021, CBCGDF’s representatives of International Cooperation Department were invited to attend the Independence Day Reception held by the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.

David Meale, temporarily in charge of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, delivered remarks. First, on behalf of the Ambassador Mission in China, David Meale expressed his condolences for the recent earthquake in Sichuan and offered his sympathies to those who suffered damage. Meale explained that the official U.S. Independence Day falls on July 4, and this year the Embassy celebrated the national holiday on September 17, the anniversary of the Constitution.

In his remarks, Mr. Midway mentioned that President Biden recently sent Deputy Secretary of State Sherman and former Secretary of State Kerry, the presidential envoy on climate change, to China so that the two countries could take action on climate change, COVID-19 and other issues.

The reception was held in the courtyard of the U.S. Embassy. In the gentle autumn breeze, posters of famous American were lined on the grass. Mr. Midway invited guests to view the posters, which featured the life stories and contributions of 15 notable Americans throughout history, including scientists, inventors, activists and athletes, showcasing their diverse strengths and endless potential.
