On September 10, 2021, the BOAO Forum for Tourism Development opens at the BOAO Forum for Asia International Convention Center in Qionghai City. According to schedule, the opening speech will be delivered by guests from all over the world on September 11, and the sub-forums will open afterwards.

Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Vice Chairman of China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation, gave a keynote speech on The Development Direction of Cultural Tourism Industry in the Era of Ecological Civilization, explaining the need for the tourism industry to shoulder social responsibility and develop in a sustainable and responsible way under climate change and epidemic environment. Finally, he announced that as one of the organizers, the CBCGDF International Coastal Cleanup Day 2021 series was launched simultaneously with this forum.

In the morning of September 12, representatives of the Forum's participating units and local volunteers from the GBCGDF's marine partner, PADI Qionghai, jointly conducted a beach litter picking and sorting activity. As a co-organizer of this year's BOAO Tourism Development Forum, CBCGDF’s representative, Xiao Qing, and Deputy Secretary General, also participated in this activity.

Volunteers from the CBCGDF’s wetland conservancy - Hutuo River, Tibetan Antelope Conservancy - Barongsiri, Wetland Conservancy - Honghu, Yashayan Conservancy - Qin River, Ancient Glandular Willow Conservancy - Sanxiao, and Insect Conservancy - Lianyungang also came across the country. It is worth mentioning that Nature Rwanda and the Wildlife Watch Group of Nepal were also invited to participate in the event and expressed their enthusiasm in cleaning the ocean  in their countries.

A larger national campaign will be held from September 19 to 21, where volunteers will pick up trash on beaches, rivers and underwater. CBCGDF has also invited international organizations from Rwanda, India and other countries to participate together.
