Held once every four years, the IUCN World Conservation Congress brings together several thousand leaders and decision-makers from government, civil society, indigenous peoples, business, and academia, with the goal of conserving the environment and harnessing the solutions nature offers to global challenges.

As a member of the IUCN, CBCGDF has been a member of the IUCN since 2015. This is the second time that CBCGDF participated in the IUCN WCC in Hawaii in 2016.

CBCGDF delegation's participation:

1. Online + offline participation.

CBCGDF delegation is made up of many members, including three in Marseille. We attach great importance to the innovation of forms of participation and create opportunities for young people to participate and make their voices heard actively. We will strive to tell China's stories well, spread China's voice well, and present a true, three-dimensional and comprehensive China.

In China, there are over 800,000 social organizations involve in poverty alleviation, health, education, environmental protection and other fields, but their role at the international level is very limited. Statistics show that China's Foreign-related NGOs account for less than 1% of the total. This situation requires more Chinese social organizations to go out and participate in global environmental governance.

2. We will attend the whole meeting.

3. The main purpose of our attendance includes but is not limited to:

- Actively participating in global ecological and environmental governance; we will tell good stories and spread the voice of China; promoting global ecological civilization;

- Conscientiously enforce the right to vote and vote in elections;

- According to the situation of this conference, we will actively recommend outstanding talents to participate in the governance mechanism and scientific committee of IUCN; prepare relevant proposals for the next WCC in advance.

4. Part of the progress of the IUCN-WCC delegation's preparatory work so far:

1) We participated in the submission and support of 6 motions and 2 emergency motions. Six previous motions have been adopted, and all of them were adopted by the end of 2020, making them official resolutions of the WCC. Two other emergency motions, which we supported in recent days, have also been tabled.

2) The remote participants communicated with the Marseille representatives to clarify the material situation and discussed the schedule and remote support in detail. Due to the time difference between China and France, the CBCGDF delegation will take shifts, including remote online participation, to ensure that the relevant information of IUCN WCC will be transmitted to the domestic platform as soon as possible. Local delegates will also participate in the IUCN membership agenda and biodiversity-related meetings, bringing valuable first-hand information to the conference.

3) CBCGDF Media will broadcast the opening ceremony of IUCN

Finally, special thanks to China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). CBCGDF sent delegations to the IUCN WCC conference, supported by the 2021 Comprehensive Program of International Organization Affairs of CAST. The project aims to support China's scientists in leadership positions in the critical international non-governmental science and technology, improve the scientists involved in the international folk organization decision making and management of science and technology ability and the ability to carry out international academic exchanges, to elevate the status of Chinese scientists in the global technology and influence, make full use of international non-governmental science and technology resources. To serve the strategic goal of building an innovative country and the overall situation of China's diplomacy.

 We will earnestly study and implement the spirit of China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for the development of the CAST continue to take non-governmental exchanges and cooperation in science and technology with foreign countries as an essential task, and take an active part in global science and technology governance.
