The G20 summit in 2021 will be held in Rome. At present, covid-19 still poses a continuous threat to global public health and economy. CBCGDF and ACTAsia call on G20 Member States to take joint action to eliminate the "potential virus bank" risk of fur farms.

Since the first report of mink covid-19 cases in the Netherlands in April 2020, sars-cov-2 virus has been detected in more than 430 mink farms in 12 countries in Europe and North America. The virus risk brought by animals in fur farms is hidden. The mink farm may be a potentially dangerous but not always recognized sars-cov-2 animal parasitifer.

As long as this corona virus can continue to spread among people, the existence of mink farming means that a virus bank shared by human and animals will be established at any time, and the risk of interactive infection of sars-cov-2 virus between human and mink will always exist. As the delta variant found in humans, although people have get vaccines, it is still easy to infect the virus and develop symptoms. In this case, we should not let mink, a susceptible species, continue to be a potential parasitifer just because of the demand for fur.

In view of the limited economic benefits of the fur industry and the fact that fur is not just needed by human beings, huge risks to public health and economic development brought by fur breeding under the pandemic, is unnecessary and unreasonable.

We must recognize the harmfulness of fur farming and take urgent action to eliminate the threat of the resulting potential parasitifer and realize of the goal of "one health".

At last, the "CBCGDF-ACTAsia" special fund once again called for promoting the discussion on the necessity of closing global fur farming at the upcoming G20 meetings, including the G20 Health Working Group Meeting on September 4, the health ministers' meeting on September 5-6 and the G20 leaders' summit on October 30-31.

We believe that this will be one of the important strategies to end the covid-19 pandemic.
