The 2020 IUCN World Conservation Congress (WCC) will be held in Marseille, France, from September 3 to 11, 2021. The WCC conference is the most important event in the calendar of IUCN. It will also be an important milestone before the 15th meeting of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15). Previously, at the 102nd meeting held on December 1, 2020, the IUCN Council decided not to postpone until after September. The specific location is Parc Chanot in France.
As a member of IUCN, CBCGDF will send a delegation to attend the conference. The scheme for CBCGDF delegation to attend the conference includes online and offline. The offline field participation part is planned to be attended by the French representative on the spot, and is authorized to participate in voting and elections. In addition, the International Department of CBCGDF will jointly hold side meetings or participate in relevant activities, and participate in the activities of multiple IUCN scientific committees.
The participation this time was supported by the 2021 comprehensive project of International Organization Affairs of China Association for Science and Technology.
Previously, six proposals of the CBCGDF were adopted by IUCN, which became the formal proposal of the conference and will have a far-reaching impact. On November 4, 2020, ‘the adjustment of traditional medicine to achieve social and environmental sustainability’ submitted by CBCGDF was adopted by the members of IUCN.
With only one month left before the IUCN WCC conference, Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, head of the IUCN WCC delegation of CBCGDF, received a letter from the conference affairs group on the afternoon of August 2, 2021.
