Zhou Jinfeng, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), received an email from the RAMSAR Secretariat, confirming Zhou's participation in the 59th Standing Committee of the Convention on Wetlands (RAMSAR SC59).

The virtual meeting of the RAMSAR SC59 will last four days and will be held from 7pm to 10pm on June 22, 23, 24 and 25.

Simultaneous interpretation in English, French and Spanish will be provided.

The Convention on Wetlands of International  firmly believes that:

1. Human beings and the environment are interdependent;

2. Wetlands have basic ecological functions in regulating water cycle and maintaining wetland unique plants, especially waterfowl habitat;

3. Wetlands are of great economic, cultural, scientific and recreational value and their loss will be irreparable;

4. To stop the progressive erosion and loss of wetlands now and in the future;

5. Waterfowl in seasonal migration may transcend national boundaries and should therefore be considered as an international resource;

6. Convinced that the combination of far-sighted domestic policies and concerted international action can ensure the protection of wetlands and their flora and fauna.
