The Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions has recently sent an email invitation to CBCGDF to attend the Conference of the Parties to the Conventions as an observer. 

The main purposes of the Conventions are: 

i. Reduce the generation of hazardous wastes and avoid environmental pollution caused by transnational transportation.

ii.Promote on-site treatment of hazardous wastes to reduce transnational transportation.

iii.Properly manage the transnational transportation of hazardous wastes to prevent illegal transportation.

iv. Improve hazardous waste treatment technology and promote international consensus on environmentally sound management.

The 10th Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention and the Stockholm Convention is divided into two parts. The online meeting will be held from July 26 to 30, 2021, while the other meeting is temporarily scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland, in June 2022 for two weeks.
