China and Israel carry out exchanges on ecological civilization issues in various fields, such as laboratory meat cultivation, green housing construction, low-carbon agriculture and so on. After the online meeting on October 25, 2020, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) actively contacted Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael Jewish National Fund (KKL) through the Israel Chamber of Commerce in China (IsCham) to explore cooperation opportunities. On January 5th, Mr. Yuval Ben-Sadeh, Chairman of IsCham, Mr. Ariel Briskin, General Manager at IsCham, and Ms. Dong Jingyi, Members Relationship Manager at IsCham visited CBCGDF, conducted effective exchanges around the ideas and possible cooperation directions of both parties with Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF.

IsCham was launched in 2008 by former Israeli President Shimon Peres. Mr. Yuval Ben-Sadeh himself has lived in China for a long time and has his own unique understanding of China. As the Chairman of the Board at IsCham, he is also committed to promoting business and cultural exchanges between China and Israel.

Dr. Zhou Jinfeng introduced to the guests the work done by CBCGDF in various fields of the ecological environment and the results achieved, including the promotion of legislation prohibiting the consumption of wild animals, the filing of environmental public interest litigation (EPIL), the promotion of healthy diet, and the reduction of food waste. Mr. Ariel Briskin said that IsCham has also been promoting Israeli research results in medical, environmental protection, and new energy and food technology. Regarding CBCGDF’s direct practices such as launching the bird watching center and the implementation of green meeting index (GMI), he believes that the concepts of both parties are highly consistent.

Mr. Yuval Ben-Sadeh emphasized that many current problems, such as sewage treatment, need to be solved through scientific research and development, and this requires cooperation between the two parties to bring Israeli technology to the next level. At the same time, enterprises should also be promoted to fulfill their corporate social responsibilities, so that they realize that long-term investment in the environment will have huge returns, so that a virtuous circle can be formed.

Dr. Zhou said that the CBCGDF's anti-food waste project and the EPIL cases filed against many companies prove that the CBCGDF has the ability to awaken public awareness and force companies to adopt environmental protection measures through public interest litigation and other means. With the same concepts, it is hoped that both parties can further help each other in similar fields in the future.

After the meeting, the two parties reached consensus on signing a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the green building renovation evaluation system.
