CBCGDF and Chinese Society of Forestry Reached a Cooperation to Comprehensively Promote the Development of Natural Education

How to get through the two? On October 27th, experts from China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) Natural Education Committee met with the Chinese Society of Forestry. The two parties reached a cooperation on strengthening cooperation in the field of natural education and jointly promoting the development of natural education in China.

Researcher Chen Xingliang, Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Forestry, introduced: Since the establishment of the Chinese Society of Forestry, it has attached great importance to natural education, and at the beginning of the establishment of the Society, a science department has been established, and has been engaged in natural science education in conjunction with relevant content in the forestry field. Chen said: “For a long time, domestic social and economic development has been at a low level, and most of the natural science education we have done is carried out in one direction, which is a one-way export model. With the advancement of ecological civilization construction, with the increase of national ecological awareness, natural science education is increasingly showing a two-way and interactive trend.” Last year, the Chinese Society of Forestry held the first China Nature Education Conference in Wuhan. It is also a nature education forum held by the civil society for six sessions. In addition, in order to promote the development of domestic nature education, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration held a special meeting to propose 7 measures and require planning out of the natural education area, organize as many activities as possible and cultivate talents, etc. And also requested that this work be checked. Chen said: "As a science and technology society, we have been actively responding to this work."

Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, Secretary-General of CBCGDF said: “In the past, we had a protected area committee. In cooperation, they mainly sought our scientific guidance; the second was to cooperate mainly in science popularization and education. Now major parks and protected areas in China have accumulated a lot of resources. For example, Milu Garden has a popular science building, which is basically not used. They have places, venues, facilities, funds, and certain staff. This foundation is relatively good, but it needs good natural education content to fill it, and it needs professional natural education talents to lead it. In the current society where there is a general demand for nature education, everyone should work together to promote high-quality development in this field.” Dr. Zhou believes that, on the one hand, there are a large number of idling venues, resources, and with a certain number of personnel, on the other hand, the demand for the thriving nature education of the private sector cannot be met. The joint docking can start cooperation from the sorting and promotion of natural education concepts, the training of natural education talents, and the unification of the teaching material system to comprehensively promote the development of domestic natural education.

Focusing on how to further promote the development of domestic natural education, experts from the Chinese Society of Forestry, the CBCGDF Natural Education Committee and other units exchanged in-depth views of the ideas of jointly holding the International Natural Education Conference in 2021, training natural education talents, and developing natural education implementation bases. At present, the Chinese Society of Forestry has reached a cooperation with CBCGDF, starting from the joint construction of China’s natural education map project. In the future, it will focus on jointly holding domestic and international natural education conferences, building a natural education talent cultivation system, standardizing natural education textbooks and carrying out extensive cooperation in fields such as in-depth promotion of natural education activities in more than 200 natural education bases in China.
