The 2020 World Conference on Science Literacy is dedicated to improving the ability of the global scientific and technological community to jointly respond to major epidemics and other crises and challenges and promote the global improvement of scientific quality in the post-pandemic era.

 

The theme of the 2020 World Conference on Science Literacy is "Improve Public Scientific Literacy and Promote Global Scientific Response to the Pandemic". Top scientists in related fields will be invited to share ideas, experiences and results of scientific responses to the pandemic, and to discuss countermeasures and plans to deal with public health crises. Representatives of scientific and technological organizations will also be invited to conduct multilateral thematic dialogues on topics such as "Scientifically Preventing and Controlling the COVID-19 Pandemic", "Public Science Literacy and Social Governance", and "Ensuring Global Public Health Security".

 

The conference also set up "Science and Technology Education for Young People in 2035", “A Healthy World, Build the Future Together”, “Service and Development of the Science Center Under the New Situation”, “Science Literacy and Construction of Ecological Civilization”, “Public Science Literacy and Public Health Crisis Response” and other special forums.

 

This conference will further promote the public science literacy and enhance the construction of international cooperation mechanisms.

 

The conference will be held in the form of "offline main venue + video conference". The plenary meeting is scheduled to be held on December 8, and the special forums are scheduled to start at the end of November.

 

The 2020 World Conference on Science Literacy "Science Literacy and Construction of Ecological Civilization" thematic forum organized by the China Association for Science and Technology and co-organized by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is scheduled to be held at 9 am on November 18, 2020, Beijing time.

 

The Forum focuses on new thinking about biodiversity conservation in the context of COVID-19, invites domestic and foreign experts and scholars to share and exchange on topics including practice and challenge to improve the public science literacy, thoughts on the improvement of citizen’s science literacy in the era of ecological civilization, how to build a global ecological civilization community among others.

 

The Forum will be held in the form of "offline main venue in Beijing + video conference". The specific way to participate in it online is to be determined.
