For a long time, the Wildlife Rescue Center of Guangxi Forestry Department has received hundreds of pangolins seized by forest police, customs, and other law enforcement agencies every year, but it has never been implemented the release. This Wildlife Rescue Center has been delivered to some enterprises by its self-created mode- "foster care" or imprison pangolins indefinitely. In the end, most of these pangolins ended in death and never returned to their "home." The purpose of ambulance and protection work is to return wild animals to nature and play an ecological function! Not release is not rescued! It is mutilation! It is anti-ecological civilization!

Since 2017, the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) has attached great importance to the rescue of pangolins in Guangxi. It has repeatedly sent letters asking for assistance in rescue and asking for the wild release of pangolins, but Guangxi Forestry Department has refused to correct the situation so far.

At the end of January 2019, the CBCGDF was invited by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration to participate in the pangolin protection work conference of the nine provinces’ forestry department. The Guangxi Forestry Department said that two Chinese pangolins that had been retained for one year in the ambulance center will be released at the end of March. The CBCGDF will be invited to participate, and the CBCGDF give the name "Guihua 1, Guihua 2". This is just a "lie". After we have exhausted our time and funds, the Guangxi Forestry Department change to cannot release.

In order to save these pangolins, which are constantly flowing into rescue institutions and dying, CBCGDF will continue to appeal to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the forestry department in various regions, collect successful cases of pangolins released in various regions, and continuously demonstrate the importance of wild release. In April 2019, the CBCGDF directly participated in the rescue work of pangolins in Guangdong province, and conduct demonstration training before release. On 28th May, the CBCGDF directly led the release of Malayan pangolins "Liutian” in Mengla county, Yunnan province, which has gained good experience and played a good demonstration role for authorities to release pangolins.

The CBCGDF hope that Guangxi Forestry Department will take this opportunity to scientific and standardized pangolin rescue work in accordance with the law, does not evade the supervision from the CBCGDF or other public environmental maintainers, fulfill their commitment to rescue pangolins and other wildlife, restore confidence and rebuild image, does not lose national great trust.
