Preparation for CBD COP15 | CBCGDF attends the NGO Biodiversity Coordination Meeting

On 19th March, CBCGDF attends NGO Biodiversity Coordination Meeting held by Environmental Convention Implementation Technical Center, Ministry of Ecology and Environment and ClientEarth, funded by Royal Norwegian Embassy in China.

 

Up till the present moment, global biodiversity loss is in aggravation, demonstrating that achieving part of the Aichi Targets are facing tremendous challenges. The Fifteenth Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity will be held in China in 2020, attracting numerous attention from the global communities, while Chinese government actively participate in global environmental governance and collaborate with different related international organizations to push forward the formulation of 2020 Post Global Biodiversity Framework.

 

For the purpose of supporting the success of COP15 and of strengthening the communication of different stakeholders, the Environmental Convention Implementation Technical Center and ClientEarth hold the meeting NGO Biodiversity Coordination Meeting themed with "Biodiversity Conservation". In the afternoon session, Chinese NGO, as well as international NGO, will introduce themselves and share their views and visions on CBD COP15. In the evening session, Cristiana Pasca Palmer, the Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, Dimitri de Boer, Chief Representative of ClientEarth in China, Mattis Raustoe, Minister-Counselor of Royal Norwegian Embassy, Justin Adams, Director of Tropical Forest Alliance at World Economic Forum and representatives from the food and agricultural sector will also attend.

 

In the meeting, CBCGDF will share its view on Aichi targets and the vision on biodiversity conservation.
