Zhou Jinfeng briefly introduced CBCGDF's previous work on marine and river protection and listed some examples.  In February 2017, the CBCGDF advocated "Outdoor Green Day", calling on society to reduce environmental damage and wildlife deaths caused by plastic pollutants. In addition, CBCGDF cooperated with relevant departments to carry out investigations on Marine garbage and discussed cooperation with Anhui government and universities to clean up the waste in the lake to reduce the amount of river garbage before entering the sea. In the area of marine conservation, the CBCGDF has cooperated with the Sanya BlueRibbon Ocean Conservation Association (BROCA) and the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IDSSE) to build an Indo-Pacific humpbacked dolphin sanctuary in areas where humpbacked dolphins have been found in recent years.

Director Chen Haoli commended the work of the CBCGDF and introduced PADI's organizational structure and corporate social responsibility work.  According to Chen, PADI is the world's largest and most recognized training system for professional divers.  PADI represents 80% of the global dive training market, with a global network of more than 128,000 professionals and 6,600 dive centers and resorts worldwide.  PADI's current business in China is mainly divided into two sectors -- teaching and public welfare. They have held many large-scale public welfare activities such as picking up, coral conservation and celebrity education.

The main purpose is to invite PADI to carry out the task of picking up and classifying underwater garbage as the co-organizer of the series of ICC activities planned by the CBCGDF this year.  The two sides share a common goal of conservation and public welfare. They plan to carry out long-term cooperation, including joint scientific research, overseas donations and citizen scientists, starting with this year's Clean up Day.

This year's ICC  falls on September 18, the last working day before the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. CBCGDF plans to combine the activity with a three-day-long holiday to carry out volunteer activities from the beach, offshore and underwater intertidal areas, and coastal rivers, lakes and shoreline areas to pick up and sort garbage from various angles. The campaign aims to achieve the two primary goals of large-scale garbage cleaning, ocean protection and garbage classification and education. Specific activity time, form, participating units and other details will give you a preview soon.

If you are interested in participating in this International Coastal Cleanup and the following marine protection activities, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Ms. Maggie.
