CBCGDF, the Smart Water Platform of China Eco-city Academy & ACEF launched the China's Carbon Neutral Afforestation Project

Against the backdrop of the overall decline of global forest resources, China's forest coverage rate has increased from 12.7% in the early 1970s to 23.04% today, and both forest area and forest stock have maintained double growth for more than 30 years. Through large-scale afforestation and vegetation restoration, China's forests are mainly at the stage of young and mid-age forests and thrive, which is helpful to improve the carbon sink intensity of China's terrestrial ecosystem and plays a significant role in the multiple measures of greenhouse gas emission reduction.

With the support of the China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF), the Smart Water Platform of China Eco-city Academy [Smart Water (Beijing) Co., LTD.], together with the relevant industry associations of the All-China Environmental Federation(ACEF), enterprises and public institutions, launched China's carbon-neutral afforestation project with the goal of carbon neutrality.

The launch of the carbon-neutral afforestation project in China is the most positive response to the climate crisis and the strategic goal of ecological security. It is a national action and the obligation of every citizen. The project will focus on implementing a sustainable development strategy, realizing national environmental and development goals, and actively responding to the national call for green transformation and high-quality development. To achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutral, the project will do its best to fight the battle of "carbon reduction by afforestation". We will uphold the concept of "upholding harmony between man and nature and building a community of life between man and nature" and work together to make China's contribution to protecting the earth's ecology and addressing the challenge of climate change.

Liancheng old revolutionary base area, the first stop of China's Carbon Neutral Afforestation Project, has witnessed countless years of changes. However, there are still soil erosion and part of desertification in the old revolutionary base area, and the restoration and reconstruction of vegetation is imminent. Planting trees, which can absorb (offset) the carbon emissions caused by production activities, is one of the important means to achieve "carbon neutrality". According to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, planting a single tree sequesters 4 to 18 kilograms of carbon per year and can sequester 80 to 360 kilograms of carbon dioxide over 20 years.

With the establishment of the first China Carbon Neutral Afforestation Project, while contributing to the 3060 goals, CBCGDF will use our best means to improve the carbon sink intensity of China's terrestrial ecosystem and contribute to greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and jointly build a beautiful new China.
