CBCGDF works with the UNHCR in a call for assistance to Afghan refugees in eastern Pakistan

On August 15, the Afghan War was declared over as the Taliban took complete control of the country after U.S. troops left and President Ashraf Ghani fled. Two days later, international media reported that about 13,000 refugees fleeing Afghanistan had entered Pakistan through the Chaman border crossing in eastern Pakistan, doubling the daily flow that day. That number is likely to increase in the coming days.

A wall has been built along Pakistan's 2,700km border with Afghanistan, which had been open until recently. The Pakistani government says it will take appropriate measures to control the influx of Afghan refugees and systematically seek to resettle them.

This time, the Afghan people face a catastrophe and refugees are displaced from their homes, which is undoubtedly a severe test and heavy burden for Pakistan, the host country of refugees. For international humanitarian concerns, and to practice the "human destiny community" to the world the power of commitment, China Biodiversity Conservation And Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) here I appeal to the whole society, please hand in hand with CBCGDF, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), aid Afghan refugees pouring into Pakistan, assist the government of Pakistan in handling the matter appropriately.

CBCGDF and Pakistan have long enjoyed close cooperative relations. On October 13, 2018, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the Clean Green Pakistan Movement (CGPM), which is supported by Dr. Zhou Jinfeng, secretary-general of CBCGDF, also shared and made suggestions on Pakistan's 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Drive, which is one of the important components of CGPM, based on the CBCGDF's years of experience in biodiversity conservation. In a multinational anti-poaching effort in 2020, the CBCGDF also worked with the International Association For Falconry and Conservation of Birds of Prey and local animal protection in Pakistan to carry out the rewilding operation.
